What is moxibustion and how does it work?

The autumn months are in full swing. The weather is getting chillier, rain is falling, and you are probably layering up to stay warm. One excellent way to keep warm is to promote the production of Qi. While acupuncture is a wonderful way to release blocked Qi, there are also needle-free methods of releasing and acquiring Qi. One such method is moxibustion.

What is Moxibustion?
Moxibustion uses an herb called mugwort to apply heat to acupuncture points. The mugwort is packed into different shapes and is burned. We then place the burning mugwort above the acupuncture points which need to be warmed and allow the heat to be absorbed.

The goal of moxibustion is to bring the body into balance and has been used to help people heal from stubborn health problems for centuries.

Benefits of Moxibustion
This Traditional Chinese Medicine treatment is used to boost the immune system by bringing more Qi into specific areas of the body. This increases blood flow and can help your body speed up the healing process.

Moxibustion is also used to warm you up if you’re chronically cold. So if you always have cold hands or feet, moxibustion can be used to help warm things up.

  • Lowered immunity
